Happiness is..

Chanced upon the program on Channel newsasia - Project Happiness featuring Bhutan in this episode as the filming crew attempts to understand why Bhutan is a happy place.

2 sentences at the end of the episode caught my attention & here they are. Food for thought =)

1) Life is after all about life.
The most important thing in life is to live your life. Many a times we are either living in history, indulging in reminiscence or living in the future, dreaming about the things that may not even happen. How often are we fully aware, fully mindful of all our present emotions, actions and thoughts? How often do we live in the present moment? Are we madly pursuing fame, money and all other material things such that we lost focus on what really is important in life?

2)Happiness is understanding what happiness is.
Towards the end of the homestay with one of the local families, the Bhutanese told the Singaporean crew member, " You have everything, but you don't understand the simplest thing". Not understanding what happiness is, there's no way we can achieve it. So what exactly is happiness?

cannot agree more. sometimes i think we are just caught up in the motions of living, just going through it because we think we must and have to. but i guess also that many times, we forget that every passing moment is a moment lived, and that we should actually be grateful for every moment in life, no matter how little. haha my greatest weakness is getting caught up with complaining abt life, how this and that is difficult and tiring, and then i catch myself thinking sometimes; maybe it isn't that difficult? haha so instead of complaining i shld be thankful for every difficult moment felt, it probably has the potential to bring me to a less difficult stage. oh goshz i think im rambling.. i shld sleep but i know i have to be more committed to my work haha! yes, im still learning; abt myself and life:)
